01The invitation
From Mehndi to Muhurtam, four celebrations, one beginning.
02The celebrations
4 — 7 February 2027Hampi, Karnataka
Four gatherings in Hampi, among the boulders and the old stone of Vijayanagara, by the Tungabhadra. Each keeps its own hour. Open one for the time, the place and what to wear.
Henna, marigolds and filter coffee in the colonnade.
Lamps on the river steps, and both families in full voice.
On the eve of the muhurtam, under a hundred brass lamps.
The moment itself, at first light in the kalyana mantapa.
03The two of them
ವಧೂವರು
A little about each of them, and a few things worth knowing before you come to Hampi.

The groom
ಆದಿತ್ಯವರ್ಧನ್
Son of Somashekar and Savitri
He asked for the muhurtam at Virupaksha, at the hour the stone turns gold. Everything else in the week was arranged around that morning.
The bride
ಕೀರ್ತನಾ
Daughter of Anand and Meenakshi
She wanted the week to begin in the shade, with henna and filter coffee, and the morning of the wedding left unhurried.
Walk with us as far as the river.
The week is long on purpose: henna in the shade, singing after dark, a dinner that will not hurry.
Then Sunday, before the heat, the only hour that matters.
Be with us when the stone turns gold.
That is the beginning.
A few things for the journey
If you photograph the week, use #AtFirstLight, so both families can find the pictures afterwards.
February is dry and mostly clear. Afternoons reach about 30°C. The river cools quickly after dark, so bring a shawl for the sangeet.
Rooms are held at Evolve Back in Kamalapura, where the mehndi and the reception are held. Write to the family and they will see to one.
Once you are at the house, leave the driving to us. Cars go to the river on Friday at 6:15 pm, and to the temple on Sunday at 6:20 am.

Until first light
Come as far as Hampi. The morning will not wait.
